Politicians across the world are known for their
propensity to commit gaffes. George bush
invented a whole new language which came to be known as “ Bushism’s”. Then there was Bill Clinton – who, when bored
with the mundane task of running the world’s most powerful country, would put
his cigar in all the wrong places. When
caught with his pants down, he rendered a mumbled apology to his
countrymen/women in particular and the world at large. Last heard – Bush’s biographer is still
struggling to figure out what he (Bush) really wants to convey , as the poor
guy has to challenge his own comprehension of the English language with Bush’s
Bushisms. And of course – Bill Clinton
is paid thousands of dollars by the elite Colleges and Universities across the
world; to talk about his days as the
President of the U.S. of America- without any mention of his preoccupation with
a certain Ms.Monica Lewinsky and his unflagging libido. She too has had her
place under the sun- telling the whole world about her escapades with Bill
Clinton in the sacred spaces of the Oval office and the White House.
Closer home, we have the species known as Indicus
Politicus, or the Indian Politician , who are not in imminent danger of
overtaking William Shakespeare as far as the English language is concerned. Or
even Chanakya, our own home grown master of governance. Whenever they have
something to say they ensure that their foot is firmly stuck in their mouth.
Some can actually speak with both feet in their mouth.
Recently we had
the Dy. C.M. of UP exhort his beaurocrats that a little bit of corruption is fine in high places. Mayawati, Ex. C.M. of U.P. thought nothing of
a wearing garlands made of currency notes worth Rs. 5 Crore, offered to her in
public. What’s there to complain about
her spending close to a 1,000 crores on erecting 100’s of elephant statues, her party symbol ,including
some of her own across the state with funds from the state exchequer?
Mamata Banerjee
painting up Kolkatta in Blue, her party’s color – arresting a professor for a
political cartoon he made four years back.
Throwing out apro Ratan Tata from Singrur for his NANO project, which
was welcomed in Gujarat. Repeatedly
threatening the UPA Government of withdrawing her party’s support over each and
every issue and then actually doing it, and getting
marginalized herself
for her efforts. Referring to rapes in
her state as opposition strategies- the list is endless. Only yesterday she had
to suspend her party leaders and some workers after they were seen showering
money at barely clad dancing girls at an event to celebrate the party’s , hold
your breath, FOUNDATION DAY, if you please. Her vocabulary is
limited to just two words, Cholbe Na ( nothing doing) .Can it get any worse? Yes
it can!!!
THESE GUYS CAN DO THE GANGNAM RAP SO WELL , THAT
PSY, THE FOUNDER OF THIS STYLE WOULD BLUSH AND FAINT !
Another headline in today’s paper says Haryana Minister
says “ Geetika (a girl who was raped and committed suicide) by another
minister, Kanda was just a servant of Kanda, sparks outrage” and another
headline in the same issue of TOI screams “19 cops still protect Ex.Prez. Patil’s family” – well this lady exited the
high office in July 2012.
And then there is Abhijeet Kumar, MP and more importantly, the
President’s son
showcasing his contempt for all beautiful women by calling them highly dented
and painted.
Sheila Dixit , Delhi’s CM, saying “ it is time to
retrospect” after the recent brutal gangrape and subsequent death of a young
medical student in a running bus by 6 goons, which galvanized our entire nation to demand for stricter laws for
protecting our women folk and harsher punishments for the perpetrators of such
crimes. On the very next day another girl is raped in a moving bus IN DELHI. Few days later, on the 3rd
of January, a congress MP in Assam is thrashed by the husband and crowd of a
woman he raped, and handed over to the police.
It will be an understatement to call this species
anything but ignoramuses. Their actions
and words stem solely from the realization of power. All of them, without exception, will claim
they never said that, and if caught on camera then they never MEANT that, and will blame the media anyways.
Let us learn to take the blame for all these fools in
high places. It is us who bring them and
their idiosyncrasies to rule over
us. Whether by exercising our franchise
by VOTING or by choosing NOT to vote for anybody. Going forward,
we must individually decide on changing our self centered approach. Our parents and grand parents would proudly
hold up their finger to display the INK mark below their nail. Today we raise our finger in pride between
friends and proclaim – “I did not bother” – they are ALL crooks. But then look
where our attitude lands us? We must
realize we are not living in isolation as an individual or a com. There is a larger picture. Much larger than
us our or our collective community !
That is our country ! We are Indians
first !!!
Recently Ratan Tata said “Tata is NOT A PARSI
COMPANY – it is an INDIAN company which has expanded to $100 billion across the
world.” There is pride to be an Indian
in his statement. He is the jewel
(Ratan) of our com. Yet he has the grace
and common sense to refer to his company as India’s – not his community’s –
that is maturity, class, integrity, loyalty, pride, patriotism-call it what you
will. Even at the ripe old age of 75, he is an inspiration for all of us. As
has been his predecessor, JRD Tata.
If we do not give a hoot to vote then lets not empathize
with our country’s women who are tormented and in some cases raped by beasts,
masquerading as males. We cannot
complain about our MP’s and Ministers who conduct themselves shamelessly – We
cannot complain about scams and rising crime rate on our streets.
Some of our MPs have cases of rape and murder pending
against them. Ask yourself WHY are they still walking
around scott free and shamelessly ? Is it because they do
not trouble you or your family in Khushroo Baug or Jer Baug or wherever YOU ARE
STAYING?
Lets all take our collective responsibility to exercise our franchise for the
country VERY seriously. THINK - even if we can prevent one of these species
by our vote – we may have successfully prevented another major scam or rape or
scandal or crime.
It is your constitutional right – every youth and person who
is eligible to vote – PLEASE DO !!!
INDIA is our Country – you and me were born on this soil
–
……….. AND SHE IS BLEEDING!!!
HOW CAN YOU HURT YOUR
OWN MOTHER???
